There are links below, but I wanted to introduce you to Ganesha who is the avatar or physical manifestation of Brahman's (or God's or The Universe's or The Way) of our ability to remove obstacles for new beginnings. Ganesha is an excellent symbol for Professional Clinical Mental Health or Psychotherapy because our greatest challenge as humans is to remove the ego layers that don't work for us anymore! Life sometimes forces our hand through pain and loss, but we have it in us to remove obstacles and become fully whole. Often things happen to us that we didn't ask for and didn't consent to, and we often react in ways that protect us, but often keep us from healing. Another way to say this is: Things happen to us, we do things to ourselves, and we lose sight of our own worth and value! We get in our own way! Sometimes we need a little outside help, whether it's a statue of Ganesh (A pic I took in India!), Jesus, the Poetry of Rumi, or a spiritual guide or advisor! Or... A clinical mental health professional like myself!
