Biography

John was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan and currently lives in the little bedroom community of Jenison - which is a suburb of GR. He lives with his partner Mercy and his Rodesian Ridgeback named Shadow - who is his assistant when providing professional clinical mental health services. His alter-ego Jack Kali produces music that he defines as a necessary artistic outlet for expressing things that he hasn't been able to reconcile - like the loss of a child (Little Angels) or a prayer of vulnerability when not having the answers (My Prayer). John also is the keyboard player for Granddaddy Prunk (2026 album: Fed Up) which finds him and his bandmates writing quirky originals about life.

John graduated Summa cum laude from GVSU and WMU with Master's Degrees in Professional Education and Clinical Mental Health. He is a fully licensed, nationally board certified, counselor-psychotherapist. He owns two businesses: Lakeshore Guidance LLC provides Clinical Mental Health services. Studio Orange LLC provides workshops, speaking engagements, artistic consulting, as well as spiritual advising.
